Project Specifics

Geosyntec practitioners provided planning, public coordination, engineering, design, regulatory permitting, and construction-phase services for the rehabilitation of approximately 9,300 linear feet of existing rock revetment.

Geosyntec Scope of Services

Our team completed a feasibility evaluation of viable alternatives and project phasing, which were presented to the County Commission for review and feedback. To maximize the use of available grant funds, we then facilitated a public feedback session after which the design was finalized.

The final design included repair and maintenance and raised the structure crest one foot above the original elevation. The project included placing nearly 17,000 tons of granite armor stone along four shoreline phases/reaches to improve resiliency and coastal flood protection.

Notable Accomplishments

Sand fencing to support dune growth was also designed for a 2,500 linear foot section of the beach. Geosyntec also developed technical bid documents for two of the revetment phases and the sand fence construction. Our practitioners supported the bid process in conjunction with Glynn County, which was completed in 2021 with a total of 8,470 tons of rocks placed.

Note: At the time of this project, Geosyntec practitioners were contracted as ATM, which was acquired by Geosyntec.
