Stability under seismic and probable maximum flood loads was performed for a 345-foot-high thick arch concrete dam located in the Northern California. The construction of this dam was completed in the 1920’s and its hydropower structures are regulated by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).

Storage Tank and Pipeline Permitting for Various Capital Projects in California

Geosyntec was retained by a confidential fuel storage terminal to assist them with environmental and air permitting, providing timely and responsive support for multiple projects at a Northern California fuel storage and distribution terminal. The facility required approvals for new equipment and infrastructure modifications to allow for storage of ethanol, renewable diesel, biodiesel, and renewable jet fuel. Geosyntec worked to obtain critical approvals by preparing analyses of environmental impacts for local lead-agency review and permit applications for local air-district review. Geosyntec is working closely with the client to quantify air emissions and do a comparative analysis to baseline emission estimates, in addition to serving as a liaison with the lead agency for the purposes of California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) evaluation.

Sites Reservoir Project – Alternatives Analysis and Feasibility-Level Design of Regulating Reservoir

The Sites Reservoir Project includes a new 1.5 million-acre-feet reservoir to be situated within the eastern margin of the California Coast Ranges, along the west side of the Sacramento Valley. The facility will receive and release water through a system of new pipelines and existing canals connected to the Sacramento River, with operations driven by two pumping plants, which will also serve as power generating plants.

Non-Urban Levee Evaluation Program

The California Department of Water Resources (DWR) is leading a multifaceted initiative called FloodSAFE California to improve integrated flood management throughout the state, with an emphasis on improved flood risk management related to the state-federal flood protection system in the Central Valley. DWR is evaluating approximately 1,230 miles of non-urban levees. The Non-Urban Levee Evaluation (NULE) Program team is assessing the condition of non-urban State-federal project levees and associated non-project levees, to determine conformance with geotechnical criteria and, where needed, identify remedial measures, including cost estimates, necessary to meet those criteria. The information being developed through the NULE Program will be used within the Central Valley Flood Management Planning Program to inform development of two required documents: the Flood Control System Status Report and the Central Valley Flood Protection Plan.
