Offshore and Nearshore Site Investigations

How can we help?

The success of a site investigation starts long before the vessel sails to site.

Geosyntec and Ternan Energy have a significant track record in providing survey support and complete turnkey survey management services to clients throughout the world including East Coast USA and the North Sea.

With the technical and operational experience of our team we can advise clients on appropriate survey strategy, scopes of work, contractor selection, vessel and equipment suitability, mobilization and operations, laboratory analysis and reporting. Our team has first-hand experience of all stages of the survey lifecycle and this experience helps ensure that the surveys will be conducted in a safe and efficient manner and that the data collected will meet the objectives of the campaign.

Site Investigation Stages:

  • Stage 1 – Oversee preparations for survey (e.g. vessel audits, QHSE document review, kick off and mobilization).
  • Stage 2 – Operational management e.g. onshore direction of survey activities.
  • Stage 3 – Provision of offshore client representatives reporting on all aspects of the survey (e.g. technical, commercial and QHSE, weather, progress, optimization and 3rd party engagement).
  • Stage 4 – On completion of surveys, oversee the data processing and geotechnical lab testing.
  • Stage 5 – Review all Contractor reporting to ensure it is a true representation of the data collected and ultimately addresses the requirements of the project.
  • Our integrated site investigation management service provides support to clients throughout these stages. These include:

    • Developing site investigation plans that incorporate the most appropriate geophysical and geotechnical data acquisition methods,
    • Planning and scheduling support.
    • Establishing management procedures and protocols for the team of Client Representatives, such as communication matrix, data Quality Control/Quality Assurance (QC/QA) routines, data and document management protocols and reporting requirements;

    • Attending all necessary coordination and planning meetings (internal);
    • Attending kick-off meetings and any further meetings with the site investigation contractor(s) and other 3rd parties as required;
