Matthew Schallinger Delivered a Guest Lecture on Electrokinetically Enhanced In Situ Remediation at the University of Minnesota
Matthew Schallinger, P.G., (Minnesota) delivered a guest lecture on electrokinetically enhanced (EK) in situ remediation for Dr. Ray Hozaliski’s Remediation Technologies class in the Department of Civil, Environmental, and Geo-Engineering at the University of Minnesota on November 23, 2021.
EK in situ remediation technology uses a direct-current electrical field to transport remedial amendments into tough-to-reach areas underground. Matthew presented several case studies of Geosyntec’s application of this technology to expedite site cleanup and closure by targeting persistent contaminants trapped in low-permeability source zones.
Matthew Schallinger is a Professional Geologist who specializes in the remediation of groundwater, soil, and soil vapor. He has extensive field experience directing and managing projects. Matthew routinely conducts subsurface investigations, handles materials, oversees contractors, and provides construction quality assurance on many industrial and commercial sites.
Geosyntec is a global leader in the application of EK technology. Matthew and his team are the first to apply this technology at a site in Minnesota.
