Maiju Asiala Earns Young Professional of the Year Award from the Finnish Association of Civil Engineers

Maiju Asiala was honored by the Finnish Association of Civil Engineers (RIL) with their Young Professional of the Year Award at the RIL Summit in Helsinki, Finland.

RIL presented the award on Thursday, November 27, 2025.

Maiju is a Professional based in Finland who focuses on structural, geotechnical, and tailings engineering with a specialty in geotechnical assessments and foundation engineering. To support industrial and infrastructure clients in the Nordic countries, she conducts site investigations, analyzes and models geotechnical data, performs stability assessments, and produces plans and reports. On mining projects, she works as a geotechnical designer, conducting geotechnical calculations related to dam structures and preparing studies in compliance with GISTM requirements.

The RIL’s Young Professional of the Year Award is presented annually to acknowledge early-career professionals who contribute to industry advancement and exemplify excellence in professional skill appreciation.

RIL promotes engineering expertise and development in Finland that brings together civil engineers and students across the country. Founded in 1934, the organization promotes the continuous development of members’ professional skills through networking, training, and events.
