James Wang to Co-Present Webinar on Electrokinetic-Enhanced In Situ Remediation

James Wang, PhD, PE, will co-present the webinar, “USEPA/ORD’s Engineering Issue Paper: Electrokinetic (EK)-Enhanced In Situ Remediation Technologies: Options for Addressing Contaminants in Low-Permeability (Low-k) Environments,” on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. EDT.

He will present with coauthor David Gwisdalla, PE, of USEPA Office of Research and Development (ORD) Technical Support Coordination Division. Jean Balent of USEPA Technology Innovation and Field Services Division will moderate.

James is a Principal Environmental Engineer based in Maryland with more than 25 years of experience focused on developing and applying innovative assessment and remediation technologies. He has built his practice by providing clients with cost-effective and tailored solutions to their most challenging problems.

The USEPA/ORD Engineering Issue Papers are technology transfer documents that summarize the latest information on waste treatment and site remediation technologies and related issues, and present it in a conveniently accessible manner to users. They are designed to help remedial project managers, on-scene coordinators, contractors, and other technical staff and site managers understand the type of data and site characteristics needed to evaluate a technology for a specific site. They also provide ways to design and optimize a technology for a particular application.

About the Presentation

This webinar will address electrokinetic (EK)-enhanced in situ remediation technologies available for addressing contaminants in low-permeability (low-k) subsurface environments where conventional hydraulic delivery technologies often face challenges. It will introduce ORD’s recently published Engineering Issue Paper on the technology. The authors present on EK technologies and provide insights to the user community on ways to best use the EIP.
