Gizem Bozkurt, PhD, PE, and Shira Colsky, PE (Georgia), were selected for the American Council of Engineering Companies of Georgia (ACEC Georgia) “35 Under 35 Women to Know,” published in the April 2024 issue of Engineering Georgia.

Gizem is a Senior Engineer who manages large, multidisciplinary projects under multiple state and federal regulatory frameworks, with a focus on coal combustion residuals management and landfill design. She develops civil site layouts, conducts geotechnical assessments, and performs site closures. Gizem’s projects often involve geotechnical and environmental site investigations, pilot-test programs, construction quality assurance, and other design- and construction-related tasks.

Shira is a Process and Remedial Design Engineer who focuses on industrial wastewater treatment, water distribution system modeling, process design and optimization, and groundwater remediation technology selection and implementation. She manages groundwater remediation programs at complex hazardous waste sites and has served as lead engineer on several large industrial wastewater projects.

Engineering Georgia is the official magazine of Georgia’s engineering industry. It is published six times a year by major professional engineering organizations across the state, including ACEC Georgia. The magazine serves decision-makers at leading architectural, engineering, and contracting firms, public- and private-sector clients who hire engineering companies, and local and state officials who interact with and influence the industry.

The 35 Under 35 Women to Know in Georgia Engineering were selected by ACEC Georgia’s 100 Influential Women in Engineering Committee. This list showcases women who are recognized by their peers for their dedication, innovation, and leadership as engineers, planners, strategists, and civic leaders. ACEC Georgia is a member organization of the American Council of Engineering Companies and comprises Georgia engineering consultants in many disciplines.
