Geosyntec’s Matthew Jenny and Mike Burcham will Present at the 2021 Georgia Brownfields Seminar

Matthew Jenny and Mike Burcham, PE (North Carolina) will present “Beginning with the End in Mind: How Site Conditions Affect Managing Vapor Intrusion Mitigation Design at Brownfields Sites” at the Georgia Brownfields Seminar to be held virtually June 22-23, 2021. Matthew and Mike will be joined by Peter Grant from EPRO.

The Georgia Brownfields Seminar provides quality education opportunities with a wide range of participants, including leading development, legal, engineering, risk management, economic development, and other professionals throughout Georgia and beyond with a shared interest in cleaning and redeveloping contaminated properties and revitalizing surrounding areas around the state.

The Seminar is hosted by the Georgia Brownfield Association which was formed to ensure the State of Georgia benefits from the continued cleanup of and reinvestment in environmentally impacted and underutilized properties in Georgia.

Presentation Abstract

The redevelopment of impacted sites should “Begin with the End in Mind,” factoring historical and future site use to inform and strategize vapor intrusion (VI) mitigation decision making. This session will address the importance of understanding the VI conceptual site model, client objectives and risk tolerances, site use requirements, building constraints, and regulatory considerations for short- and long-term performance monitoring of VI mitigation systems. Geosyntec and EPRO will provide multiple perspectives of the important factors to consider in facilitating a safe and effective brownfields redevelopment on vapor-impacted sites.
