Dan Elliot to Host Pharmaceuticals in the Environment Webinar

Dan Elliott, PhD, BCEEM, will host the webinar, “Bad Medicine: Pharmaceuticals in the Environment,” on November 6, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. ET. The webinar, which will address sources and response strategies, is a part of the National Ground Water Association’s (NGWA) Problematic Contaminant Webinar Series.

Dan is a Senior Consultant based in New Jersey with more than 25 years of experience managing due diligence assessments, characterizing environmental liabilities, managing remediation portfolios, conducting regulatory negotiations, and leading compliance audits. This work often involves active pharmaceutical ingredients.

Over the past few decades, interest in pharmaceuticals in the environment (PiE) has escalated. Active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) have been detected at concentrations of ecological and human health concerns in groundwater and surface water worldwide. This presentation investigates the roots of PiE, the sources of API as emerging contaminants, and strategies for understanding the challenges these contaminants pose to our society.

NGWA is a community of groundwater professionals working together to advance groundwater knowledge and the success of their members by offering education, outreach, and enhancement of professional practices.
