Client Service

She specializes in developing site remediation designs, regulatory compliance strategies, work plans, feasibility studies, corrective measures studies, cost estimates, design plans and specifications, and construction bid documents. Her clients include industrial concerns, realty and construction companies, aerospace manufacturers, petroleum companies, laboratories, energy technology corporations, and law firms.

As a consultant, Lisa led a feasibility study and conducted bench-scale treatability studies that identified enhanced in situ bioremediation and bioaugmentation as remediation solutions at a former manufacturing facility impacted by trichloroethylene. This project was notable for its use of an innovative groundwater recirculation system that consisted of one extraction well and one reinjection well surrounded by 12 donor injection wells. Emulsified vegetable oil and lactate mixture, plus the bacterial culture KB-1, were used to produce “halos” of culture around the donor wells, ultimately reducing concentrations of trichloroethylene to near non-detect levels.

At another facility, Lisa evaluated the effectiveness of an existing remediation system and prepared a supplemental feasibility study that identified in situ thermal desorption (ISTD) as the remedial alternative for reducing the mass of volatile organic chemicals (VOCs) from low permeability soil layers beneath the site. The corrective action plan received regulatory approval and Lisa successfully managed the implementation at the site. The ISTD remedy operated for two years and removed approximately 30,000 pounds of VOC mass. Post-operational monitoring is currently being conducted.

To advance the state of the practice, Lisa continues her research and publication of best practices regarding the use of innovative in situ remediation technologies. She is an active member of the American Society of Professional Engineers and the Groundwater Resources Association.
