Patricia Varela, Ph.D. (Texas) will receive the Emerging Leader Award from the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) in Houston, Texas at the Young Professionals Networking event – Young Professionals: Diversify Your Network, on August 18, 2021.

Patricia Varela is a Project Professional based in Texas, focused on geotechnical and geological surveys, risk and reliability studies, geohazard investigations, and integrated site characterization. Patricia was also highlighted in an article by Women Offshore for her work in the oil and gas industry.

The Emerging Leader program, launched in 2021, recognizes one young professional from each of OTC’s sponsoring, endorsing, and supporting organizations. Emerging Leaders are individuals who are making key technology and/or leadership contributions to the offshore energy sector in their field of work, service to the industry, innovation, or safety performance. Patricia was nominated by Rodolfo Sancio, Ph.D., PE (Texas), Senior Principal at Geosyntec.
