Project Specifics
Hillcrest Country Club engaged Geosyntec to help create and implement a water master plan for their property. The objective of the master plan was to evaluate water use and help guide projects and practices related to sustainable water use at the site.
Geosyntec Scope of Services
Since 2021, Geosyntec has been supporting Hillcrest with tasks including the following:
- We conducted initial planning to help Hillcrest plan and install two irrigation supply wells, a 500,000-gallon storage tank, and a treatment system to meet the client’s water quality goals. Treatment system planning was based on collected water quality from the client’s existing system, water quality goals for the client’s turf, and water demand. After evaluating three treatment systems, we the client selected reverse osmosis (RO). We provided cost estimates for the complete installation of new wells, the storage tank, and the RO system.
- We designed the new 500,000-gallon storage tank and the RO system, including collecting baseline data (geotechnical engineering, structural evaluation, and topographic and geophysical assessments) and designing the preliminary layout of the tank, retaining wall, and treatment system. The tank and treatment skid is being designed to efficiently work with the existing system, including the current 500,000-gallon storage tank and irrigation system. In April 2025, the tank and ancillary work were permitted through the Los Angeles Bureau of Sanitation.
- We managed construction of two new irrigation supply wells and conveyance piping from both wells to the existing storage tank. Work included pre-construction services, permitting, planning, construction, construction management, and start-up and testing. Additionally, Geosyntec conducted modeling and and generally supported a Hillcrest’s approval with the local Groundwater Sustainability Agency (GSA).
- We provided oversight of tank construction, including of a new retaining wall and foundation in 2025.
Notable Accomplishments
Geosyntec has collaborated with Hillcrest in a design-build capacity for more than four years, keeping within budget despite substantial hurdles. With our support, Hillcrest achieved approval of private supply wells within the Santa Monica Subbasin, per the Santa Monica GSA requirements.
