Since 2011, ATM, a Geosyntec company, has provided a variety of project planning, permitting, engineering, and consulting services to Anderson County related to the development of the Green Pond Landing and Event Center Project.
We were part of a multidisciplinary team that provided comprehensive consulting services related to the development of a six-lane mega ramp and bass tournament facility on Lake Hartwell. Sprawling 56,000 acres along the South Carolina/Georgia border, Lake Hartwell is an important environmental resource and provides a plethora of recreational opportunities with outstanding fishing being a key draw. In fact, the lake was host to the 2018 Bassmaster Classic, and hosts numerous high-level bass tournaments each year.
We provided specialized facility planning, including boat ramp access, orientation, trailer parking, and tournament facility flow analysis. A key element of project planning also included consideration of highly variable site topography and the need for proper ADA access to all aspects of the project. Highly variable water level fluctuations (~30 feet) also provided challenges with regard to ramp and staging dock design. We worked closely with the County and project team to evaluate and develop unique engineering solutions to site challenges. Specifically, the toe of the boat ramps were strategically set to ensure safe launching at the lowest of water levels. This will help ensure that no lucrative tournament bypasses the area for lack of adequate launching depth and ensures continuous, safe access for local boaters.
We also guided the regulatory permitting effort for the boat ramp and floating docks through USACE.
