Project Specifics

Industrial hygiene (IH) assessments are conducted to accurately evaluate worker exposures to chemical, physical and biological agents in the workplace and to provide recommendations for their reduction or elimination.

Our practitioners conduct assessments using the sound scientific principles and practices of industrial hygiene, public health, and toxicology. The assessments provide documentation of the current status of occupational health hazards, recommendations for hazard control, personal protective equipment (PPE), administrative controls, and exposure-based medical surveillance.

Geosyntec Scope of Services

A Geosyntec Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) performed area and personal air monitoring for total and respirable dust, metal working fluids, oil mist, lead, titanium, molybdenum, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, methylene chloride, hydrofluoric acid, hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, HDI, heptane, elemental carbon, and welding fumes. Associated ventilation systems were evaluated, documenting performance to remove airborne contaminants in employee work stations. Additionally, our CIH performed area sound level mapping and personnel noise dosimetry.

Notable Accomplishments

IH survey reports documented the interpretation of data collected during the walk-through survey, the quantification phase of the comprehensive IH survey, and the resultant exposure assessment. The assessments reports also provided documentation of the current status of occupational health hazards, recommendations for hazard controls, PPE, administrative controls and exposure-based medical surveillance. Employee exposure assessment results were used to design fiveyear plans for on-going exposure monitoring in compliance to OSHA standards, concensus standards, and industry best practices.
