Project Specifics

Since 2001, Geosyntec has supported the City of Jacksonville’s inland and waterfront projects.

Geosyntec Scope of Services

As the prime consultant, Geosyntec provided comprehensive coastal engineering services for 19 recreational projects. This work included a boat–ramp management master plan that addressed 23 City-owned boat ramps, individual park master plans, and waterfront facility improvements (boat ramps and docks). In 2018, we also inspected and designed docks impacted by Hurricane Irma.

As a subconsultant, Geosyntec provided various waterfront facility planning, permitting, design, and limited construction phase services on 12 parks. The public waterfront projects include shoreline stabilization and protection, floating and fixed piers and docks, boat ramps, kayak launches, and navigation aids, many of which were partially funded by grants.

Notable Accomplishments

Geosyntec delineated and permitted borrow areas totaling 7 million cubic yards of sand. This sand source will support the City’s project needs for the next 50 years. We worked with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection to modify permits to significantly reduce and streamline portions of permit-required biological monitoring.

Note: At the time of this project, Geosyntec practitioners were contracted as ATM, which was acquired by Geosyntec.
