Project Specifics
During the Delta Water Treatment Plant (DWTP) Groundwater Recharge Improvement Project, Geosyntec evaluated the potential for groundwater recharge at the site and developed a feasibility study and preliminary design report.
Geosyntec Scope of Services
Geosyntec’s scope for this project included conducting an initial review of available information, a GIS-based topographic survey, and an electrical resistivity profiling (ERP) survey, in addition to preparing a work plan and developing methods and procedures. The field program included cone penetrometer testing, soil boring with down-hole permeability tests, well installation, aquifer testing and analysis, and soil and groundwater laboratory analysis. We then developed a hydrogeologic conceptual model and prepared a feasibility report with preliminary design of groundwater recharge basins. As part of the project, we also provided updates used for grant administration and prepared cost estimates for construction/implementation of project for use in grant application. Geosyntec is finalizing the feasibility report and helping the city develop a design/build request for a proposal to implement the project.
Notable Accomplishments
Geosyntec has provided insight into the potential use of property as a recharged facility. Results of the investigation indicated that, although there are significant low permeability areas beneath the site, there are preferential pathways that will allow recharge water to migrate to the groundwater aquifer. Geosyntec also provided cost estimates for implementing the recharge facility, which the City used during grant application. Geosyntec is helping develop a design/build request for proposal and will be the client engineering representative for project construction.
