Youngmin helps clients with solid waste design including settlement and slope stability evaluation, leachate recirculation system design, leachate storage tank facility design, solar energy generating system design, stormwater management system design, landfill liner and final closure systems design, and landfill gas management system design. He has been qualified as an expert on various litigation support projects associated with landfill slope failures and other environmental matters. He has also been deeply involved with Geosyntec’s solid waste advisory services leading waste characterization studies, operational evaluations, financial planning studies, public engagement, feasibility studies, cost/benefit analysis, due diligence, and compliance. Youngmin has served as Geosyntec’s Health and Safety Coordinator for the New England branch and prepared numerous heath and safety plans and task hazards analyses.

His Ph.D. research experience is focused on enhanced waste stabilization and landfill gas production via various leachate recirculation technologies, waste characterization and composition analysis, landfill waste and foundation settlement measurement and prediction, and solid waste shear strength change due to waste composition variation.
