Suzanne O’Hara is a Principal Hydrogeologist based in Ontario with over a 20 years of field work and project management experience focusing on remediation of groundwater and soil containing recalcitrant compounds using innovative and more conventional technologies.


Suzanne has directed, managed, and provided technical support for multiple projects ranging from overall strategy development, site investigation, contaminant fate and transport and conceptual site model (CSM) development and remedial design and implementation. Her technical experience involves dense non-aqueous phase (DNAPL) fate and transport in fractured media and the design, implementation and optimization of innovative in situ remediation technologies for complex contaminated sites.

To advance the state of the practice, Suzanne continues her participation in groups such as the Interstate Technology & Regulatory Council's (ITRC) In Situ Remedy Optimization group, where she was involved in developing the "Optimizing Injection Strategies and In Situ Remediation Performance" technical guidance document for state environmental regulators and is an instructor for the seminar series on the guidance document. Applying her expertise in the innovation and applied research, she worked in partnership with the University of Central Florida and NASA on the development and testing of emulsified zero-valent iron (EZVI) for DNAPLs and activated metal treatment system (AMTS) for the extraction and treatment of PCBs in building materials through the U.S. Department of Defense (ESTCP) technology demonstration program. She is also part of the Geosyntec team, along with the Oregon Health & Science University and the U.S. Navy, funded by ESTCP to evaluate sulfidated zerovalent iron for discrete source remediation.
