Seth is a leader in evaluating and managing sites impacted by per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). She co-authored the first PFAS best practices guidance for the National Groundwater Association (NGWA) in 2018 and developed and facilitated the first NGWA "PFAS in Groundwater" workshop that same year. She frequently educates regulators and industry professionals on the unique challenges of managing, characterizing, and remediating PFAS and has advised congressional and state staff on PFAS policy. She is an advocate for Superfund reform and a scientifically based PFAS regulatory approach.
Prior to her PFAS work, Seth spent the first several years of her career evaluating and remediating sites impacted primarily by mercury and volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Her VOC work was aimed at evaluating mass flux and mass discharge of contaminants and targeting remediation efforts at the most highly impacted portions of the aquifer, reducing overall remedial costs.
Seth is recognized for educating public officials and regulatory agency personnel on the scientific basis for groundwater characterization and remediation. She is the author or co-author of over a dozen peer-reviewed articles or conference presentations on topics such as PFAS characterization and remediation, advanced groundwater assessment technologies, complex glacial flow systems, and fate and transport of mercury in sediments.
