Patrick VanDeWiele is a Project Engineer based in Missouri with more than 12 years of experience in civil engineering, water resources, dams, and levee projects.

As an engineer and safety expert, Patrick has helped clients perform reviews and hazard potential classifications for dams in Missouri, Iowa, Illinois, Michigan, Tennessee, and New York. He specializes in riverine flood studies, stormwater infrastructure, levee systems, industrial facilities, flood mitigation design projects, hydraulic structures design, construction, and initial/periodic hydrologic performance reviews.

Utilizing hydrology and hydraulic models within software platforms, Patrick is able to assess flood events and potential hydraulic structure failure consequences to surrounding areas. To study flood impacts, he is an expert at creating one- and two-dimensional hydraulic models to analyze flood event impacts on riverine bank stability, levee/dam breaches, hydraulic impacts from proposed projects within floodplains, and dam/impoundment hazard classifications. Patrick has utilized these models also to design stormwater infrastructure components that mitigate existing flood issues and to study offset proposed project hydraulic impacts, dam spillways, and embankment stabilization measures.

Patrick participates in the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Risk Management Center (RMC) training courses to stay current in the newly developing risk-based assessment field and software. He is also a member of the United States Society of Dams (USSD), where he contributes to the Hydrology and Hydraulics Committee.
