Client Service

Nick partners with his clients to develop and implement strategies to comply with state and federal clean-water law (e.g., Clean Water Act) obligations such as NPDES and pretreatment regulations. To do this, he often conducts water-quality and aquatic-species investigations for regulatory compliance, performs water-quality modeling, supports watershed management, conducts stormwater characterization, and evaluates stormwater BMP performance.

To help clients implement the Clean Water Act at the state level, he participates in and coordinates with stakeholder organizations such as the Missouri Water Environment Association, the Missouri Public Utility Alliance, and the Regulatory Environmental Group for Missouri. Nick actively participates in the public process to help develop regulations and policies that are based on sound science and allow for cost-effective environmental improvement. Through this process, regulatory policy changes can be identified and addressed prior to formal adoption.

To advance the state of the practice and support clients, Nick applies his technical knowledge of instrumentation and methods to implement extensive water-quality-monitoring programs across the United States. These projects include work in Missouri, New Jersey, Georgia, Tennessee, Virginia, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, West Virginia, and in Alberta, Canada. These investigations often include real-time access to data for timely management and compliance decisions.

Nick is often called upon for his expertise in monitoring equipment and assessment design to support a wide range of surface-water investigations. His innovative approaches provide Geosyntec clients with reliable and cost-effective solutions for surface-water data collection that inform scientifically based regulatory decisions.
