Mike assists clients using his unique background in waste management, mine tailings management, and dam design that make his skillsets beneficial across a variety of geotechnical and geoenvironmental projects. Most recently, Mike helped a client develop alternative dam sections, liner alternatives, and construction methods for a mine tailings storage facility where the mine tailings were classified as a hazard waste. The design required compliance with both mine waste and hazardous waste regulations. His demonstrated success is achieved by coupling his experience with the client needs and his ability to develop sound solutions to complicated problems.

To advance the state of the practice, Mike regularly attends courses through a variety of mining and dams organizations to improve his understanding of the state of the practice in design, construction, operations, maintenance, and closure for both mine tailings and water resource dams. He is also a participating member of the USSD Tailings Dam Committee.
