Lonnie Mercer is a Senior Geologist based in Utah with more than 16 years of professional experience focused on environmental site investigation and remediation, environmental due diligence, and environmental compliance.
With broad experience across a variety of industries, Lonnie works with local, national, and multinational clients in the oil and gas, chemical, manufacturing, mining, waste management, hospitality, and government industries. His project work includes investigation, assessment, and remediation of contaminated sites under CERCLA, RCRA, and state hazardous waste programs. He conducts site assessments, high resolution site characterization, remedial design investigations, feasibility studies, and construction management and quality assurance oversight. He has worked at contaminated sites impacted by petroleum hydrocarbons, chlorinated solvents, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), dioxins/furans, metals, and other inorganic contaminants.
Lonnie is experienced with LNAPL sites, for which he has performed site characterization, conceptual site model development, and remediation system design and optimization. His remediation experience includes remedial excavation, soil vapor extraction, air sparge, groundwater pump and treat, LNAPL skimming, and multi-phase extraction. He is experienced with managing client portfolios and multi-site programs, and he has provided recommendations for end-to-end strategies and engaged in negotiation with regulatory agencies.
Having lived in several countries and states, Lonnie has U.S. and international experience and has worked in offices in Utah, Texas, and New Zealand. He has managed projects for client facilities located in numerous countries across the world. Lonnie speaks Portuguese and Spanish, which he learned while living in Brazil and conducting geologic studies in Mexico.
