Jarrad Coffey is a Senior Principal Engineer based in Western Australia with more than 14 years of experience managing assets and risks for tailings storage facilities and other large civil assets. He specializes in dam safety management and strives to identify and develop practical and sustainable solutions through risk assessment, audit, and review.
From the experience gained leading large asset-management teams and programs in the mining industry, Jarrad offers significant expertise in risk assessment. On behalf of clients, he conducts risk assessments of individual assets or portfolios of assets, develops technical standards, performs technical reviews, and develops management systems. In addition, he has led the implementation of several technical standards, including the Global Industry Standard on Tailings Management (GISTM), across large portfolios of assets.
To advance the state of the practice, Jarrad is a member of the ANCOLD Tailings and Dam Safety Management working groups and the ICOLD Committee L Tailings & Waste Lagoons. For the latter, he is the Australian Young Professional representative. He is a regular contributor to conferences, participating on organizing committees and contributing technical papers. Jarrad is passionate about the development of young professionals and has led and mentored engineers across the tailings industry in Western Australia.
