Jagrut leads multidisciplinary teams on complex solid-waste and environmental remediation projects, providing geotechnical services to industrial and mining clients. On their behalf, he has designed expansions and closures for conventional slurry, thickened, and filtered tailings dams constructed using upstream and downstream methods. Having served clients in the United States, Caribbean, South America, and Australia, he brings experience with national and international regulatory processes in these regions. In addition, he has led several field investigations and laboratory test programs to characterize the geotechnical behavior of mine tailings.

As lead geotechnical engineer, Jagrut supports construction and closure of treatment sludge residue impoundments, including municipal sludge lagoons, lime sludge ponds, and process-water cooling ponds. He has collaborated on multidisciplinary teams to conduct remedial investigations, pre-design investigations, and remedial design for sites under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA). He has implemented several remedial technologies like slurry walls, in situ and ex situ solidification/stabilization, large-diameter auger excavations, and conventional excavations. He also has experience with the design and construction of landfills under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act and the Toxic Substances Control Act. In addition, he offers experience with remediation of contaminated sediment sites, having served as lead geotechnical engineer for the remedial design and remedial action at a mega-sediment Superfund site in New York.

In service to the profession, Jagrut has developed and implemented innovative technical applications to deliver custom client solutions, including the finger-fill method for capping very soft lime treatment sludge using high-strength geotextile reinforcement at a sludge impoundment lagoon in Florida. In addition, he developed a first-of-its-kind application of in-water geophysical survey methods to characterize very soft sediments in complex geology at a contaminated sediment site in New York. Jagrut also led permitting efforts for one of the first filtered (dewatered) tailings facilities for a mining client in Nevada.

Jagrut serves on the Tailings Dam Subcommittee of United States Society on Dams (USSD) and on the Embankments, Dams, and Slopes Subcommittee of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Geo-Institute. He is an active member of the International District Energy Association (IDEA).
