Client Service
Counties, cities, and public utility clients rely on Henry’s geotechnical expertise on levee setbacks and dam removal projects to help reduce flooding, restore habitat and fish passage, and bring aging infrastructure up to current engineering standards. These clients value his focus on identifying and mitigating subsurface risks and major cost drivers early in design, before delays or budget overruns occur. His pragmatic approach centers on conducting thorough geologic analyses and targeted field investigations to characterize conditions and offer clients design options that speak to their concerns and risk tolerance.
For public clients and private developers, Henry has championed the application of ground improvements such as deep soil mixing, stone columns, and jet grouting to address poor soil conditions and develop more cost-efficient building foundation designs. He has collaborated with specialty contractors to pioneer the use of innovative ground improvement technologies throughout his career and has applied them on projects ranging from public works campuses to medical offices, industrial properties, combined sewer storage, and research facilities.
Henry brings significant solid waste experience, including managing multiyear, multidisciplinary contracts for the assessment, maintenance, and improvement of environmental monitoring and control systems for closed landfills. In addition, he conducts geotechnical evaluations of and designs landfill liner and closure systems, and he handles geotechnical engineering of solid waste transfer stations and resource recovery facilities.
As a past president of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Seattle Section, Henry facilitated professional development opportunities, supported mentoring programs, and organized speakers. In 2025, he was recognized as an ASCE Fellow for his contributions to the geotechnical engineering profession over the years. During his tenure leading Geosyntec’s Northwest Branch infrastructure and geotechnical practice, he grew the group into subject matter experts recognized throughout the Pacific Northwest. Within the firm, Henry creates opportunities for early- and mid-career professionals to develop their technical skills, lead projects, and gain confidence communicating with clients.
