Frederic Cosme is a Senior Principal Engineer based in Melbourne, Australia, with more than 20 years of experience focused on environmental consulting and hydrogeology. Fred helps clients convert scientific outcomes of investigations into practical remedial engineering design considerations that bring tangible risk-based results.


Fred has spent most of his career assisting clients in the manufacturing, oil and gas, mining and infrastructure sectors. He has delivered outcomes for a range of environmental projects across Australia, Europe, North America, and the Asia-Pacific region.

On behalf of clients, he develops conceptual site models and conducts hydrogeological assessments, remedial feasibility assessments, remedial pilot tests, and groundwater risk assessments. He also handles rehabilitation of storage facilities (including mine tailings) and landfills and management of groundwater resources. Fred brings a proven record of leading implementation of innovative groundwater investigation and remediation techniques, including environmental forensics. He has extensive experience with fractured rock systems, as well as with coastal sites and sites adjacent to surface water.

To advance the state of the practice, Fred pioneered the implementation of innovative applied and environmental groundwater tracing techniques. He has authored and coauthored more than 30 scientific publications including a book chapter, refereed journal articles, and conference proceedings.
