Eric Lovenduski is a Principal Scientist based in New York with more than 24 years of experience focusing on soil and groundwater contamination. He specializes in evaluating and mitigating vapor intrusion (VI) and supporting carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) projects.

Eric Lovenduski is a Principal Scientist based in New York with more than 24 years of experience focusing on soil and groundwater contamination. He specializes in evaluating and mitigating vapor intrusion (VI) and supporting carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) projects.

Eric has provided technical support to clients on VI related matters on for chlorinated volatile organic compounds and methane at nearly 100 sites across North America, as well as at sites in South America and Australia. He also manages several CCUS projects across the United States. In addition, he offers clients extensive experience in brownfield site redevelopment, contaminated site conceptual site model development, and remediation and mitigation system performance optimization. No matter the project, he is known for bringing innovative, yet simple, solutions to his projects and for building multidisciplinary teams to support successful project execution.

Clients recognize that Eric is responsive and works to build trust with regulatory agencies through outreach and training. He has been an invited instructor on VI matters by the Massachusetts LSPA, New Jersey DEP, Georgia EPD, and Wyoming DEQ and has contributed to the development of VI guidance documents. Eric holds an advanced certification for soil gas mitigation from the American Association of Radon Scientists and Technologists. In addition, he has supported the VI practice development by contributing to industry standards and guidance document development, including ASTM (E2600-2008), AARST (SGM-SF 2017), ITRC (VIM 2020), and others. For the last 10 years, he has regularly served a platform speaker and regulatory agency trainer on VI assessment and mitigation.

A member of Geosyntec’s VI steering committee, Eric chairs the mitigation subcommittee. He is also a contributor to the firm’s methane hazards practice group and CCUS group. In addition, he mentors junior staff in vapor intrusion assessment and mitigation, work that contributes to continued expansion of Geosyntec’s VI team across geographic areas of the firm.
