Client Service

Doug helps clients design and manage the implementation of a wide variety of remedial solutions to restore contaminated properties to productive reuse and to protect groundwater resources. Many of his projects address emerging or recalcitrant compounds such as per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), radionuclides and chlorinated solvents. He has been the technical lead on projects involving litigation support, financial risk analysis, and regulatory negotiation. Doug is frequently consulted on brownfield projects and projects involving environmental liability transfers.

Doug is currently working on the investigation and remediation of PFAS in private and public water supplies, stormwater, and surface water. He has provided regulatory negotiation and community relation support related to PFAS detections in drinking water and is working with state regulators on developing site management strategies to address PFAS migration in groundwater.

Well-versed in state and federal regulations governing environmental site work, Doug has consulted on projects under the control of the United States Environmental Protection Agency and numerous state regulatory agencies. He has taught at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, is an instructor for the Princeton Groundwater Remediation and Hydrology Courses, and lectures regularly on remediation topics at other short courses and conferences.

From 2019 to 2025, Doug was a member of Geosyntec’s Executive Committee. In this capacity, he managed the firm’s multinational operations with a combined staff of more than 800 engineers and scientists in eight countries. He also served on Geosyntec’s Board of Directors for four years, including one term as Corporate Secretary.

Outside of work, Doug has used his engineering skills in the design and construction of water supply infrastructure and schools in Guatemala and Liberia.
