Dave Cook is a Senior Principal Geologist based in Washington with more than 30 years of experience focused on managing complex environmental, geothermal, and geohazard projects that require creative strategies, detailed budget tracking, unique technical decisions, and communication with multiple involved parties.

Dave Cook is a Senior Principal Geologist based in Washington with more than 30 years of experience focused on managing complex environmental, geothermal, and geohazard projects that require creative strategies, detailed budget tracking, unique technical decisions, and communication with multiple involved parties.

Dave has a long and successful history of leading projects from due diligence, through cleanup, redevelopment, and regulatory closure, transforming brownfield properties into productive uses. Examples of such work include overseeing a large cleanup of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Headquarters, as well as due diligence and cleanup oversight of Amazon’s HQ in downtown Seattle and HQ2 in Arlington, Virginia. He also provided strategic advising, pursued funding, and oversaw remediation of a multi-million-dollar contaminated site into affordable housing for the Mt. Baker Housing Association.

In addition, clients turn to Dave for his expertise overseeing emergency response actions and geohazard assessments. His work designing and implementing ground source heat pumps to support energy transition and decarbonization is pathbreaking.

Dave often lectures at universities and is a mentor for Northern Arizona University’s Thrive Program, as well as being an Affiliate Professor in the School of Earth and Sustainability. He has served on committees with the Urban Land Institute and Downtown Seattle Association, Geoprofessional Business Association, and Engineering Change Lab. Dave has long volunteered with Engineers Without Borders USA, as a mentor on water projects in Bolivia and Peru, on the Board of Directors, and, in 2016, as President.
