Chris Wessel is a Senior Principal Water Resources Engineer based in California with more than 15 years of experience focused on urban stormwater management and planning.
Chris specializes in helping clients find solutions for their critical stormwater and surface-water needs, including compliance with NPDES MS4 Permits, Construction General Permits (CGPs), and Industrial General Permits. A major part of his work focuses on green infrastructure, covering everything from watershed planning and project identification, to project funding and design, through project monitoring and optimization. Chris also supports clients with the planning and implementation of water-supply projects, working to identify sustainable solutions that integrate stormwater capture to offset groundwater pumping. Some of his public-sector clients include the City of Los Angeles, the County of Los Angeles, Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), and LA Metro.
Chris has helped expand Geosyntec’s work in the transportation industry, serving as Geosyntec’s project manager for on-call environmental support for LAWA. In this role, Chris has helped LAWA identify and implement regional low impact development (LID) solutions; establish a CGP compliance program; and conduct complex PFAS investigations. Chris also serves as one of Geosyntec’s project managers with LA Metro, helping them establish and manage their LID program and construction water program.
In 2020, Chris was named one of Engineering News Record’s Top Young Professionals in the State of California.
