Alicia Smith is a Senior Principal based in Texas with more than 20 years of environmental, health, safety, and sustainability (EHSS) experience focused on capital project development, merger and acquisition support, and sustainability advisory services.

From strategy, to acquisition and development, to operationalizing EHSS programs, to divestiture and redevelopment, Alicia leads teams across the project life cycle. She has extensive experience in mergers, acquisitions and divestitures (M&A and A&D), leading multi-disciplinary teams supporting fast-paced acquisitions and divestments of energy assets globally. Deal values typically range from $10M to $1B and in these settings, Alicia works closely with the client’s commercial teams, legal advisors, financial advisors, and business leadership. As financial investors and customers drive business towards energy transition, these engagements have incorporated environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues and risk management strategies.

Additionally, Alicia leads teams focused on the success of major capital development projects and helps clients understand their business risks and design integrated risk management strategies. She is thoroughly familiar with U.S. regulatory and procedural requirements as well as international best practice (e.g., IFC Performance Standards and Equator Principles). By focusing on risk management principles one of her clients was able to advance their development schedule by over a year and save over $500 million in capital expenditures.

Finally, Alicia works with teams to develop strategies for helping clients overcome ESG challenges and EHSS risks. Her expertise ranges from reporting and disclosure to implementing ESG policies and programs for material ESG issues.
