Client Service
On behalf of clients in the public and private sectors, Adam has directed subsurface investigations, remediation projects, and redevelopment of contaminated properties, with former land uses ranging from typical corner gas stations to a tissue mill to a 40-acre bulk-storage facility on the shore of Lake Michigan. His redevelopment projects have helped transform sites with petroleum and chlorinated volatile organic compounds, polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons, metals, polychlorinated biphenyls, and dioxins into productive, tax generating mixed-use developments. Clients turn to him for environmental and other types of pre-purchase due diligence work, comprehensive subsurface investigations, remedial actions integrated with civil engineering and redevelopment, and pro forma budgeting to support redevelopment.
Adam offers clients the benefit of his problem-solving skills, expertise in environmental regulations, and deep relationships with regulators. He has secured local, state, and federal grant funding, helped negotiate public-private partnerships to support brownfield redevelopment, and facilitated the creation of tax incremental financing districts to offset environmental investigation and remediation costs. In addition, he guides clients through Wisconsin’s rigorous Voluntary Party Liability Exemption (VPLE) program to limit future environmental liability. In his work, Adam uses remediation technologies and methods including in situ chemical oxidation, enhanced in situ bioremediation, low permeability slurry walls, soil excavation, active and passive vapor mitigation systems, and capping. Additionally, he stays on the forefront of evolving environmental issues, like using passive sampling devices to assess vapor intrusion and finding the best ways to address emerging contaminants such as per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS).
