Like companies in many industries, aggregate producers are grappling with what the quickly evolving sustainability and ESG landscape means for their operations, employees, investors, communities, and customers. This session will demystify sustainability and ESG by explaining terms like net zero and carbon neutrality, circular economy, embodied carbon, voluntary climate-related disclosure, environmental justice, greenwashing, and scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions. We'll also explore environmental product declarations, an emerging trend for aggregate producers that presents both challenges and opportunities for public works projects. The speakers will wrap the session up by presenting a roadmap companies can follow to develop a sustainability and ESG strategy that suits their company's particular needs.
