Presentations

Title: Building Environmental Compliance Programs that Outlast the Great Resignation
Presenter: Ken Yass, Geosyntec
Date/Time: Tuesday, September 13, 9:50 a.m. CDT

Workers who voluntarily quit their jobs reached a record level of 3% in November 2020 and this number has been holding steady at 2.8%. This presentation will showcase methods for environmental compliance programs that outlast turnover.

Title: Understanding the Macro Problem that is Microplastics
Presenter: Tina Liu, Geosyntec
Date/Time: Wednesday, September 14, 11:25 a.m. CDT

Microplastics in the environment come from a variety of sources and may be the next big contaminant of emerging concern. Research is being conducted on microplastic sources, fate, and transport in the environment in order to better understand the effects on aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems and human health. This presentation will explore the current state of knowledge of microplastics research, the data gaps that still need to be addressed, and the challenges in developing a regulatory framework.
