Kwasi Badu-Tweneboah to Attend and Present on Rock Revetments and Industrial Facilities at WODCON XXIII

Kwasi Badu-Tweneboah, Ph.D., P.E., D.GE, F.ASCE, (Florida) will present "Use of Rock Revetments to Protect Industrial Facilities Three Case Studies" at WODCON XXIII: World Dredging Congress and Exhibition at the Tivoli Congress Center in Copenhagen, Denmark. He will present at 2:55 through 4:15 p.m. CET on Wednesday, May 18, 2022.

Kwasi's co-author is Geosyntec's Ramil G. Mijares, Ph.D., P.E., (Florida). Their paper discusses the use of rock revetments to protect facilities from severe erosion and finds that revetments are effective in providing protection, cost-effective, and environmentally acceptable.

Kwasi Badu-Tweneboah is a Senior Principal Engineer with more than 30 years of consulting and research experience focusing on the design, permitting, construction, operation, and closure of containment systems for solid, hazardous, and radiological wastes, sediments, and surface impoundments, as well as on geosynthetics applications in civil engineering and on dredged material management. His clients include commercial waste disposal firms, municipal and local governments, petrochemical manufacturing, utility, pulp and paper processing industries, and land development firms.

World Dredging Congresses (WODCONs) are held once every three years by the World Organization of Dredging Associations (WODA). Participants represent dredging companies, port and harbor authorities, government agencies, public authorities, contractors, manufacturers, consultants, research institutes, and universities.

This event is the only global event dedicated exclusively to dredging, reclamation, maritime construction, and dredged sediment management and routinely draws over 500 attendees from around the world. The theme of this year's event is "Dredging is Changing." The event will take a broad view of how dredging makes positive changes to the natural and socioeconomic environment and will address what lies ahead for the industry.

WODCON is hosted by the Central Dredging Association (CEDA) on behalf of WODA. WODA is an independent, nonprofit, professional organization composed of three major dredging associations around the world: the Western Dredging Association (WEDA) covering North, Central, and South America, CEDA covering Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, and the Eastern Dredging Association (EADA) covering Asia, Australia, and the Pacific region.

In addition to our presence at WODCON XXIII, Geosyntec will have a strong presence at WEDA's annual conference to be held in Houston, Texas, from July 25 through 28, 2022. Kwasi serves on WEDA's Technical Paper Committee (TPC) and will be reviewing paper manuscripts submitted for the conference.
