Geosyntec Sponsors ASDSO West Regional Conference

Geosyntec is sponsoring the 2022 Association of State Dam Safety Officials (ASDSO) West Regional Conference. Geosyntec is a Sustaining Member of ASDSO.

Geosyntec practitioners Tiffany Adams, Ph.D., P.E. (Colorado), Conrad Ginther, P.E. (Tennessee), Michael Nelson, P.E. (Colorado), and Zachary Mickel, P.E. (Tennessee) will be attending the ASDSO West Regional Conference at the Davis Conference Center in Layton, UT from February 15 – 18, 2022.

Tiffany Adams is a Principal Engineer based in Colorado with more than 20 years of experience focused on geotechnical and civil engineering analysis and design for dams, levees, and hydraulic structures. Tiffany helps clients with dams, levees, and hydraulic structures in need of material characterization, seepage evaluation, and stability evaluation and deformation modeling under static and seismic conditions. She is well versed in the risk assessment process and has served on the risk assessment team for 10 dams, with roles ranging from potential failure mode identification, to risk estimation, and conducting the numerical analysis to support risk estimation.

Conrad Ginther is a Principal Engineer based in Tennessee with more than 15 years of experience focused on delivering dam safety and seepage barrier projects that advance the state of the practice. He oversees complex and high-profile engineering projects and has a strong background in specialty geotechnical construction, dam safety, design, and remediation for embankment and concrete dams. Conrad specializes in design and implementation of seepage barriers including drilling and grouting, cut-off walls, and composite barriers.

Michael Nelson is a Principal Engineer based in Colorado with more than 24 years of professional experience focused on the areas of: geotechnical and geoenvironmental engineering; mine tailings storage facility and heap leach; mine remediation and reclamation; dams and levees; dam safety inspection; solid, hazardous, and low-level radioactive waste disposal facility, landslide mitigation and earth retaining structures; and construction quality assurance oversight. Mike assists clients using his unique background in waste management, mine tailings management, and dam design that make his skillsets beneficial across a variety of geotechnical and geoenvironmental projects.

The ASDSO seeks to improve the condition and safety of dams and reduce the consequences associated with dam incidents through education, support for state dam safety programs and fostering a unified dam safety community.
