David Espinoza to Present on Sustainability and Private Investment in Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) at PPP Americas 2021 Virtual Event
David Espinoza, Ph.D., P.E., (Maryland) will present "Plenary 5: Sustainability: A Driver for Private Investment in Public-Private Partnerships" at PPP Americas 2021 on December 10, 2021 from 2:45 to 3:30 p.m. EST.
David Espinoza's co-presenters are Maia Colodenco, Secretary of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Economy of Argentina; and Christian Deseglise, Head of Sustainable Finance, HSBC. Milagros Rivas, the moderator for the panel, is Advisory Services Chief at IDB Invest.
David Espinoza is a Senior Principal Geoenvironmental Engineer based in Maryland with 30 years of design and consulting experience. Dr. Espinoza leads the firm's efforts to develop a framework for valuing investments in real assets (e.g., renewable energy, solid waste, mining, hydropower) taking into consideration other risks (e.g., climate change) in addition to market risks. He is the developer of the Decoupled Net Present Value method, a consistent and transparent quantitative valuation method that integrates market and non-market risks associated with infrastructure investment projects.
PPP Americas provides a forum on Public-Private Partnerships in Latin America and the Caribbean. Presented every two years by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), it gathers the leading public and private agents in infrastructure development in the region. In 2021, the event will take place on December 9 and 10, both as a virtual event and at the Palácio dos Bandeirantes in Sao Paulo , Brazil. Events in Sao Paulo will be livestreamed as well.

Abstract
Positive impacts of sustainability are no longer an additional benefit for infrastructure projects; sustainability is now required. PPPs have adapted to this new reality by adopting high social and environmental care standards, attracting capital with high demands. This panel will discuss how this revolution is unfolding.
