Rachel James and Silvia Mancini to Present on Stewardship Approaches to Treatment at the Water Stewardship in Mining Conference

Rachel James and Silvia Mancini, Ph.D., P.Geo., (Ontario) will present "Stewardship Approaches to Treatment" at the Water Stewardship in Mining Conference at 2:50 p.m. BST on May 13, 2021. Geosyntec is a sponsor of the event.

Rachel and Silvia's co-presenter is Tony Di Feo, CanmetMINING.

Rachel James is a Project Professional based in Ontario with more than 10 years of experience in aqueous geochemistry in the mining industry, including conducting bench- and pilot-scale treatability testing and water quality and biogeochemical investigations in support of mine development decision making for a broad range of projects. She is well informed in relevant emerging trends and guidelines initiated by environmental regulatory authorities.

Silvia Mancini is a Professional Geoscientist and Principal based in Ontario with more than 16 years of experience focused on innovative solutions in site characterization, water management and treatment for the mining and metals, manufacturing, oil and gas, and legal sectors. Silvia specializes in working hand-in-hand with her clients to develop water management and site closure strategies, including identifying, testing, and implementing innovative technologies at challenging sites.

The inaugural Water Stewardship in Mining 2021 event will unite mining companies, government, regulators, non-governmental organizations, and solution providers at this critical time to build paths and blueprints to water stewardship, address climate change, drive innovative technological solutions, build legitimacy and trust, and create meaningful partnerships. Attendees will find out how to align stewardship thinking across their organizations, take a successful catchment approach to water management, and deliver sustainability leadership in a variety of sectors.


This Breakout Session will cover identifying opportunities for improving water recovery and treatment recycling in operations as well as utilizing treatment technology to achieve drinking water quality.
