Shira Colsky Awarded the 2020 Outstanding Young Professional Award from A&WMA
Shira Colsky, P.E. (Georgia) was awarded the Outstanding Young Professional (OYP) Award from the Air & Waste Management Association (A&WMA) at the ACE Virtual Honors & Awards Ceremony on July 2, 2020.
Shira Colsky is a Process and Remedial Design Engineer based in Georgia with consulting experience focused on industrial wastewater treatment, water distribution system modeling, process design and optimization, and groundwater remediation technology selection and implementation. She currently manages the groundwater remediation programs at complex hazardous waste sites in Georgia and South Carolina. She is also the lead engineer on two large industrial wastewater projects in Mississippi and Alabama.
The OYP Award recognizes individuals who are pursuing excellence in their careers and have made a valuable contribution to A&WMA by serving in leadership positions. To be eligible, a candidate must be a young professional of 35 years of age or younger who is working in the environmental profession.
Shira currently serves as the Director and Brown Bag Technical Luncheon Committee Chair for the Georgia Chapter. She has held various other leadership roles within A&WMA since 2015, when she started a student chapter at the Georgia Institute of Technology. After graduating, she took on the role of the A&WMA Young Professionals Committee Chair for the Georgia Chapter, joined the Young Professionals Advisory Council of the International Association, and judged student abstracts while serving on the Georgia Chapter Scholarship Committee. Shira was also instrumental in the success of the 2019 Southern Section Annual Meeting and Technical Conference.
