Berend Jan Velderman Joins Geosyntec as Senior Consultant

Berend Jan Velderman, P. Geo (Ontario) has joined Geosyntec Consultants as a Senior Consultant.

He has more than 25 years of hydrogeology experience as a subject matter expert in environmental due diligence, geochemistry, hydrogeology, water supply, sediment management, and site remediation.  He led project delivery around the world in these discipline areas for industrial clients.  He has also led numerous site assessment and remedial implementation projects for clients in Canada, including developers, landowners, financial institutions, manufacturers, municipalities, the Canadian Federal Government and First Nations.    

At Geosyntec, Berend will support clients with his expertise and bring them the best of the Geosyntec team with his experience in integrated project delivery. He will lead our Ottawa office, supporting our continued growth in the Canadian marketplace.  His focus will be supporting clients in the manufacturing, financial and insurance industries, the development sectors, municipalities, First Nations and the Canadian Federal Government.

Previously, Berend has served as a senior principal on numerous high-profile Brownfields and groundwater projects around the world, including in China, Philippines, Spain and the USA.  He has led contaminated sites, EHS, sediment and process engineering practice groups prior to joining Geosyntec.  He currently serves as a Director and the Communications and Membership Committee Chair of the Canadian Brownfields Network, and he has presented on sustainability and brownfields project planning at industry conferences.  He has been an active member of the Chemistry Industry Association of Canada.
