They plan to kickoff this joint conference with a renewed focus on how far they have come and the vast possibilities of where they can go when they work together. Their theme, "Partners in Progress," speaks of that importance of coming together. Their industries and their state can only benefit from building on past partnerships and forging new alliances. Both organizations face some interesting obstacles that will take bold thinking to overcome. Working together they plan to help shape what tomorrow will look like and how they make their industries more resilient and safer.
The purpose of RFT is: To function as a professional association among individuals engaged in the business of recycling, to assist individual members in improving skills and techniques in recycling. This will be achieved through education, special studies, research, and the exchange of ideas and technical knowledge related to all forms of recycling, to provide a forum for public, private and non-profit recyclers to mutually discuss and resolve recycling issues, to inform the public, law-making bodies and the business community of the economic significance and importance of recycling, and to demonstrate the high professional standards of those involved in the business of recycling, and this will be accomplished through sponsorship of educational meetings, research and publication of articles, reports, statistics, and other material.
SWANA is an organization of professionals committed to advancing from solid waste management to resource management through their shared emphasis on education, advocacy and research. The Florida Sunshine Chapter of SWANA was founded in 1978 is the largest single SWANA chapter, serving more than 600 members statewide.
