Seth Kellogg Represents National Ground Water Association at U.S. EPA PFAS Leadership Summit
Seth Kellogg, P.G. (PA, AR, NY) (New Jersey) participated in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) National Leadership Summit in Washington, D.C. on May 22, 2018.
The purpose of the summit was to share information and develop next steps on per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in the environment.
Seth participated in the summit on behalf of the National Ground Water Association (NGWA) and was recommended to attend the meeting by members of the NGWA Board of Directors. Her leadership includes: (1) promoting strong science-based solutions to PFAS contamination; (2) presenting on the PFAS regulatory framework, potential PFAS sources, and characterization challenges (August 2017); (3) being a lead author on Groundwater and PFAS: State of the Knowledge and Practice (January 2018); and (4) serving as a program advisor for NGWA's PFAS in Groundwater Workshop (August 2018).
During the summit, participants worked together to:
- Share information on ongoing efforts to characterize risks from PFAS;
- Identify specific near-term actions, beyond those already underway, that are needed to address challenges currently facing states and local communities; and
- Develop risk communication strategies that will help communities to address public concerns with PFAS.
