Seth Kellogg Tapped by National Ground Water Association for PFAS Advisory Meeting

Seth Kellogg, P.G. (New York) met with counsel and advisors to New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy on behalf of the New Jersey Groundwater Association (NJGWA) and the National Groundwater Association (NGWA) in advance of the May 22-23, 2018 PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) Leadership Summit in Washington D.C. between the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and stakeholders from across the U.S.

Seth and the group briefed the Governor's staff on issues of regulatory consistency, characterization, remediation complexity, and business impacts within New Jersey, and specific challenges of PFAS with the New Jersey Licensed Site Remediation Program (LSRP). The advisory group encouraged the New Jersey delegation to the national meeting to advocate for regulatory consistency and increased funding to improve the understanding of the extent of the PFAS issue.

Seth has been a member of NGWA since 1999.  She is currently a member of the NGWA Scientists and Engineers Section Board and serves as Chair of its Water Resources Subcommittee. Seth has presented and published on the technical and regulatory challenges of PFAS contamination, including coauthoring NGWA's "Groundwater and PFAS: State of Knowledge and Practice" (NGWA 2017).

The NJGWA is composed of well drilling contractors, pump installers, suppliers, manufacturers, engineers, scientists and other ground water professionals in the New Jersey water well industry. They provide lobbying and regulatory representation for the ground water professionals of New Jersey and afford insight to government officials on the implementation and effects of regulation changes in the ground water industry.

NGWA is a community of groundwater professionals working together to advance groundwater knowledge and the success of its members through education, outreach, advocacy, cooperation, information exchange, and enhancement of professional practices.
