Ron Arcuri Contributes to Groundwater PFAS Article Published by the National Groundwater Association
Ron Arcuri (Pennsylvania) served as a contributing author for a recent publication by the National Groundwater Association entitled "Groundwater and PFAS: State of Knowledge and Practice."
The document summarizes the known science and knowledge related to per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). It describes the fate, transport, risk communication, remediation, and treatment of PFAS, as well as current assessment technologies, methods, and field procedures. The document was prepared as a series of chapters that provide a stand-alone summary of each topic, which can be read individually, or as part of the whole report. The guidance document is a comprehensive eight-part piece exploring the potentially hazardous, and widely discussed, compounds in groundwater and soil. According to the United States EPA, PFAS are a class of manmade chemicals persistent in the environment and in the human body. They are widely used to make products more stain-resistant, waterproof, and nonstick.
