Geosyntec Among World-Class Designers on LA County's LA River Master Plan Team

Geosyntec was selected by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works and the Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation as the prime consultant and engineer to update the County's 1996 LA River Master Plan.

Key subconsultants joining Geosyntec on the Master Plan team are the celebrated architect/design firms OLIN and Gehry Partners. Nonprofit River LA will lead the development of an extensive and inclusive community engagement and outreach process.  Kearns & West, Street Level Advisors, 72 & Sunny, and Mosaic also join the team. The Master Plan will be managed out of Geosyntec's Downtown Los Angeles Office.

The Master Plan update encompasses all 51 miles of the LA River corridor and will investigate such topics as flood control, water supply, water quality, open space, and public health, among others.

"Geosyntec is honored and thrilled to support Los Angeles County in developing the Los Angeles River Master Plan update as the project's lead engineering consultant," said Ken Susilo, the firm's Los Angeles Operations Manager. Senior Principal Mark Hanna explained further, "While Geosyntec's technical role will be to tackle solutions specific to flood control, water supply, and water quality, a universe of possibilities and opportunities will be explored through a process that supports active community engagement and river revitalization."
