Brandon Steets (California) will deliver a presentation entitled "Industrial Stormwater Litigation: Leveraging Lessons Learned to Avoid Future Risks" to the Los Angeles County Bar Association (LACBA) from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on March 8, 2018.

Brandon Steets is a Senior Principal Water Resources Engineer based in California with more than 17 years of experience focused on helping clients develop cost-effective solutions to their complex regulatory compliance issues related to state and federal water quality requirements for surface water. He specializes in NPDES and TMDL regulations, pollutant source investigation and special study design, monitoring, modelling, and Green Infrastructure planning and design.

Abstract
Enforcement response and third-party actions against Industrial General Storm Water Permit (IGP) Dischargers are rapidly growing issues across California, and much can be done by site owners to avoid these risks. This presentation will provide lessons learned from a number of these projects and suggest considerations for settlement negotiation and activities to anticipate and/or respond to such enforcement and litigation actions. Discussion topics will include technical and regulatory considerations and will highlight the need for proactive and comprehensive site audits of IGP compliance, stormwater pollution prevention plan (SWPPP) implementation, industrial pollutant source assessments, water quality monitoring and reporting, and Exceedance Response Action activities. Attendees will benefit by being able to provide their IGP clients with more informed and strategic response when such issues emerge.
