Mark Davidson (California) will present at the Toxic Torts and Environmental Law Conference at the Sheraton Grand Nashville Downtown in Tennessee, at 10:10 a.m. on March 1, 2018.

His technical session, entitled "CSI Nashville: Environmental Forensics," will explore the latest forensic tools for assessing fate and transport of contaminants, including compound-specific isotope analysis, molecular biology techniques, and the best science for vapor intrusion cases. Mark will be co-presenting with James Slaughter, Esq. (Beveridge & Diamond) on recent developments in environmental forensic approaches, with a focus on their utility in the courtroom.

Mark is a Senior Microbiologist and Stable Isotope Geochemist with more than ten years of professional experience focused on the use of forensic approaches such as compound specific isotope analysis (CSIA), molecular biological tools (MBTs), statistical trend analysis, and chemical fingerprinting. Other specialties are the design and implementation of in situ remediation systems for groundwater impacted with a variety of compounds including chlorinated organic compounds, fuel oxygenates, and inorganic species (e.g., hexavalent chromium, perchlorate), and providing technical and strategic analyses for complex litigation matters involving both organic and inorganic groundwater contaminants. Mark is also highly qualified in chemical fingerprinting and geochemical analysis techniques, including the use of compound specific stable isotope analysis (CSIA for carbon, nitrogen, sulfur, oxygen and hydrogen) as a forensic tool in contaminant fate and transport analysis. He has served as the Project Manager for numerous litigation support projects for both common and emerging contaminants. Mark is adept at synthesizing technical information, assisting in case strategy, and preparing exhibits for use in trial, depositions and hearings. He earned his Ph.D. in biogeochemistry from Princeton University and applies his expertise to assessing the source, fate, transport, and remediation of groundwater contaminants.
