Overview
Potential human health risks resulting from the migration of subsurface contaminants to indoor air, a scenario commonly referred to as "vapor intrusion," are common drivers for environmental site assessment, remediation, and case re-openings. Revisions to the State of California regulatory guidance for vapor intrusion studies are pending, and they may result in a significant increase in the number of projects requiring further evaluation and a substantive shift in the technical approaches applied at those facilities. Our expert panelists will present a summary of the current theory, policy, and practice surrounding investigation, risk evaluation, and cleanup/closure decisions, as well as potential vapor intrusion litigation issues. The panel will also discuss the implications of the evolving vapor intrusion scientific and regulatory landscape. A Q&A session will follow the presentation.
