She will also discuss stack sampling protocols to determine the concentrations of Total Reduced Sulfur (TRS) compounds, including H2S, mercaptans, carbonyl sulfide, carbon disulfide, dimethyl sulfide, dimethyl disulfide, dimethyl trisulfide; other VOCs, Volatile Fatty Acids (VFA) and amines. In addition, she will discuss the operation and performance of caustic/hypochlorite scrubbers and carbon adsorption systems for the removal of H2S and other odorous compounds.
At the end of this presentation, the participant will be able to:
1. Understand the sources of odors at industrial facilities
2. Understand the types of odorous compounds and applicable regulations
3. Odor threshold limits and odor control technologies
Illinois EPA's New Industrial Stormwater Permit
Mark Willobee, CPESC
The Illinois General NPDES Permit for Storm Water Discharges from Industrial Activities expired in 2014. The new permit became effective April 5, 2017 with many significant changes. Many of these additional requirements need to be in place six months from the effective date of the permit, October 30, 2017.
